ePortfolios can be defined as “personal learning spaces”. An ePortfolio is a collection of materials that documents student accomplishments. Unlike an “analogue” portfolio, the digital element allows for the inclusion of different media (video, audio, infographics, etc), thereby providing students with various means of expression as well as the possibility to easily connect resources and ideas. But ePortfolios go further than that. A space for deep learning, ePortfolios enable the visualisation of one’s own learning path. They can be seen as a “learning diary”, where students reflect on their learning process.

A majority of the articles I write are inspired by colleagues and friends in the learning industry. A few weeks ago, I was chatting with my friend, Devlin Peck, who is in graduate school for instructional systems and educational technologies. He was working on the site for his portfolio. We started chatting about eLearning developer’s portfolio sites when I realized that I could only think of a handful off the top of my head.

Resources on e-portfolios

Resources on e-portfolios | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

In education, a ‘portfolio’ refers to a personal collection of information describing, documenting and recording a person’s achievements and learning. Portfolios are used for many different purposes such as a tool for evaluating leaning, for accreditation of prior experience, for continuing professional development, to assist a job application, or for a certification of competences acquired through a course or from work experience . An educational portfolio is mainly used to encourage personal reflection and involves the exchange of ideas and feedback. Many people have already used some kind of portfolio. Most of them have built a portfolio to collect evidence required to get certificates or to show what they have learned in a concrete situation or training. The development of information and learning technologies has led to the development of digital portfolios or electronic portfolios, commonly referred as e-Portfolios".

the digital portfolio process outlines

ReScooped, but I want to raise some questions about some of the key values eportfolios offer such as peer interaction and social learning and integrative knowledge and reflection. This 3-step process seems to make it all look very simple, but there's a good deal of educational transformation and adjustment to new pedagogical practices that go along with these three steps.
AAEEBL's curator insight, January 20, 2013 8:13 PM

I'd be very interested in comments on these three steps?  What's being left out?  Social learning?  Integrative learning?  Reflection?  This does not reflect any values in eportfolio work or actual LEARNING advantages.  Thoughts?
